MHI Tulipathon Fundraiser for Low-Income Residents - May 31st, 2020
This year Multifaith Housing Initiative’s annual “Tulipathon” walk to raise money for subsidizing rents at MHI dwellings will be a little different. Participants are asked to do a 3 km. “Solo Stroll” or a “Hike at Home” rather than the usual gathering at Dow’s Lake to walk amid the tulips. Besides fundraising, the aim is to raise public awareness about the need in Ottawa for affordable and good quality housing for people on low income.
As in other years, the people of Ottawa are asked to contribute financially to the Tulipathon, At this time of the COVID pandemic, the need is even greater to help those whose finances are stretched at the best of times.
The Mission and Social Justice Committee once again is urging parishioners to support this initiative. Working together as the
St. Basil’s Team, parishioners can participate in different ways:
Donate directly to the Tulipathon, either by phone, on-line, or by mailing a cheque to MHI, #206 - 404 McArthur Ave., Ottawa ON K1K 1G8. Tel. 613-686-1825
* Note that your support is for the
St. Basil’s Team.
Drop off a cheque made out to MHI or a cash donation to St. Basil’s parish office, clearly marked for the Tulipathon and giving your name and address for receipt purposes. Receipts will be issued by MHI.
Print or order a Tulipathon sign to display in your windowleading up to May 31st. Signs are available through the MHI website, or by calling MHI at 613-686-1825
Make a mini-banner to carry with you on your stroll, to publicize the MHI Tulipathon.
There is a friendly competition among MHI members to see which faith community or other team can raise the most money. We’d like to see St. Basil’s leading the pack! The fundraising has already started and donations, starting now, will be most appreciated.
If you are interested in participating in a solo walk, please get in touch with Rosemary Williams. We may be a virtual team, a little spread out, but we’ll be a great one!
Thanks in advance for your support.
