Sister Jean Goulet, C.S.C, a sister of Holy Cross, is celebrating her 60
th (Diamond!) anniversary of religious life by renewing her vows at St. Basil’s Parish on May 22
nd at the 11 AM Mass. Be sure to join us for this special occasion!
Jean was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley in Renfrew. She studied at the University of Ottawa, Boston College, and the University of St. Michael's College, Toronto.
Over her life of service, she has taught in Ottawa Valley schools; been a Pastoral Assistant in Lake Cowichan, Vancouver Island; appointed Director of Religious Education and Coordinator of Pastoral Services for the Archdiocese of Ottawa; and appointed Director of the Office of Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).
Jean was the co-facilitator with Safaa Fouda of the Islam and Christianity course at the Ottawa Lay School of Theology. Jean helped to fundraise for an orphanage in Haiti, directed by her community. Jean is a founding member of Multifaith Housing Initiative (MHI), and has chaired the MHI Membership Committee. Jean is also a founding member of the Spiritual Care Program in Secondary Schools.
Jean is Regional Animator of the English-Canadian region of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, is on the Board of Directors at St. Patrick’s home and she is also currently a co-chair of our own Missions and Social Justice Committee here at St. Basil’s Parish!
Jean brings a spirit of getting things done for the community and is known for her smile and kindness. She lives by her own words:
