St. Basil’s Parish invites you to the next webinar event in our “Conversations for Our Times” series, featuring Sr. Nuala Kenny, SC, on Sunday, April 18 at 2:30 PM.
The video of the April 18 Zoom presentation is now on YouTube
Widely known for her work on the clerical abuse of children within the Catholic Church, Sr. Kenny is a member of the Sisters of Charity of Halifax, a paediatrician and bioethicist who has held leading positions in medical schools at the University of Toronto, Queen’s, and Dalhousie University. Former President of the Canadian Pediatric Society and the Canadian Bioethics Society, she has written extensively on health care.
Sr. Kenny will share insights from her forthcoming book A Post-Pandemic Church: Prophetic Possibilities. With her background in confronting clerical abuse of children, she describes the Church as entering the current pandemic in a vulnerable, broken condition, itself in need of healing. But she believes that with this awareness the Church can be a source of healing problems unmasked by our current pandemic — problems such as political and religious dissension, health and social inequity, and systemic sexism, ageism, racism and white privilege in the Church and in the world.
